Campaign tracking using UTM parameters allows you to analyze the performance of your campaigns across various segments. For instance, if you're promoting a product on multiple platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and email, UTM parameters help you track the effectiveness of your campaign on each of these channels.

By adding UTM parameters to your links, you can gain valuable insights into how your campaign performs in Google Analytics. Since UTM-tagged links tend to be long and unwieldy, shortening them with Ctiny not only enhances the look but also makes sharing easier.

Ctiny offers a built-in UTM builder to simplify the process of adding UTM parameters to your links. Here's how you can add UTM parameters for campaign tracking:

Step 1: Edit Your Link

1. Click the Edit Button

  • Navigate to your link on the dashboard and click the Edit button.

2. Open the Campaign Tracking Section

  • Scroll down to the Campaign Tracking section where you can add your UTM parameters.

Step 2: Add UTM Parameters

1. Fill in the UTM Fields
  • The UTM Source, Medium, and Campaign are mandatory fields. These will help categorize your traffic.
  • For example:
    • Campaign: "New Year Sale"
    • Source: "Facebook," "Twitter," "Instagram" (create a separate link for each source)
    • Medium: "Post," "CPC" (or any other relevant medium)

2. Automatic URL Update

  • As you enter your UTM parameters, the original URL will automatically update to include the UTM tags in the correct format.

Step 3: Verify Your Link

1. Test the Link

  • Once you've added your UTM parameters, copy the generated link and open it in a browser to ensure it redirects correctly to the desired page.

2. Save Your Changes

  • After confirming the link is working as expected, click Update to save your changes.

Automatic Detection of Existing UTM Parameters

If your link already contains UTM parameters, Ctiny's UTM builder will automatically detect them and pre-fill the relevant fields for easy editing.

By following these simple steps, you can easily track your campaigns and get actionable insights to optimize your marketing efforts.
